Ingredients:

For the Stir-Fry Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (such as button mushrooms or shiitake mushrooms)
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2-3 Thai bird’s eye chilies, thinly sliced (adjust to taste)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and cornstarch until well combined. Set aside.
  2. Stir-Fry the Beef:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
    • Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet in a single layer. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
    • Add the broccoli florets and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
    • Add the sliced red bell pepper, thinly sliced onion, and sliced Thai bird’s eye chilies to the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Combine Everything:
    • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the stir-fried vegetables.
    • Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and vegetables in the skillet.
    • Stir well to coat everything evenly in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the sliced beef, broccoli, mushroom, and Thai stir-fry hot over cooked rice or noodles.
    • Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves for added flavour and presentation.

Enjoy your delicious and flavorful Thai-inspired stir-fry! Adjust the amount of Thai bird’s eye chilies according to your desired level of spiciness.
