How To Make Homemade Turmeric Granola

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup mixed nuts and seeds (such as almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)
  • Pinch of black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (such as raisins, cranberries, apricots), chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, mixed nuts and seeds, and unsweetened shredded coconut.
  3. Prepare the wet ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine the honey or maple syrup, coconut oil or olive oil, ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cardamom (if using), and a pinch of black pepper. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is melted and well combined. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients in the mixing bowl. Stir until everything is well coated and evenly combined.
  5. Spread on baking sheet: Spread the granola mixture in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through, or until the granola is golden brown and crisp.
  7. Add dried fruit (optional): If using dried fruit, stir it into the granola immediately after removing it from the oven.
  8. Cool: Allow the granola to cool completely on the baking sheet. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.
  9. Store: Once completely cooled, transfer the turmeric granola to an airtight container or glass jar for storage. It will keep for up to 2 weeks at room temperature.

Enjoy your homemade turmeric granola as a nutritious breakfast cereal, yogurt topping, or snack! You can customize the recipe by adding your favorite nuts, seeds, and dried fruits.
