How To Make Fillet of Fish Burger with Sweet Potato Cut Chips

Ingredients:

For the fish fillet:

  • 4 fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the burger assembly:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced onions
  • Pickles (optional)
  • Tartar sauce or mayonnaise
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

For the sweet potato cut chips:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the fish fillets:
    • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
    • Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
    • Dredge each fish fillet in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then coat it evenly with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat with the remaining fillets.
  2. Fry the fish fillets:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, carefully add the breaded fish fillets to the skillet, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
    • Fry the fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  3. Prepare the sweet potato cut chips:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into thin, uniform slices. Then cut the slices into strips to resemble chips.
    • In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato strips with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
    • Arrange the seasoned sweet potato strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the chips are crispy and golden brown.
  4. Assemble the burgers:
    • Toast the burger buns if desired.
    • Spread tartar sauce or mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
    • Layer lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, onions, pickles (if using), and a fried fish fillet on each bun.
    • Serve the fish burgers with sweet potato cut chips on the side.
    • Garnish with lemon wedges for squeezing over the fish fillets, if desired.
    • Enjoy your delicious fillet of fish burgers with sweet potato cut chips!

Feel free to customize the burger toppings and seasonings according to your preference. Enjoy your meal!
